I left you all off last week talking about our journey from our small town that we grew up in and moving to our new home. My husband had just sold his truck to get by..
I had just began my job as a collection agent with a bog named company and was really liking the people and the atmosphere. I loved to work long days and long hours. My husband was still on the job hunt and was looking high and low for something that he had some type of experience in. He had only worked in the construction and warehouse fields, and did not have much experience in the high demand jobs that were being offered.
I finished my two weeks of training and was on a roll! They had asked us at work to recommend people to work there and to get a bonus out of it also. I asked my husband what he thought about working with me. We went over all of the pros and cons about working together, and decided to try it out. He began training 1 week later and we were now making double the income!
The money began rolling in, and we were spending it as quickly as it came. We did put all of the bill money on the side, but all we had to pay was rent, utilities, and a phone bill. However, after a few months we decided that we also "needed" cable (premium package), Internet (high speed w/wifi), netflix, blockbuster monthly membership, daily paper membership, games, and many other things.
After going over our finances..we decided that we needed to figure something out.. but it was always "We will figure it out next week.." Let me tell you.. next week sure never came. We spent over 2000 a month on bills and items that we "needed to have" and were not saving very much money on the side as we had planned. There was always a future time or date to do such a thing. Then our little white care that we bought to get us out here (only spent $500 for it) broke down completely! It would cost us over $1000 in parts to fix it, and it did not include labor. Thank goodness my husbands cousin had moved in with us and we used his truck as transportation, and this lasted for almost a year. Now we were in over our heads.. we were putting in gas not only for us..but his cousin as well. We would spend $80-100 a week on gas with all of the double transportation going on.
Now we had moved to our new place in April of 2010 and we were now in February of 2011, and were living a not so frugal lifestyle.. then February 9th of 2011, we had received news that had shocked us both...
More of the story coming next week... what do you think the shocking news is??
Have any of you been in a situation similar to ours??
